We're into hiking and photography, but also looking for some relaxation. Any advice on how to split the time? Kolob Canyons road is located in the northwest part of Zion park. There are not nearly as many visitors in this section, but the scenery is still awesome. The five mile drive offers many viewpoints to enjoy impressive canyons, red rocks and forests. Save. That's almost a five hour drive from the east entrance of the South Rim and you'll lose an hour on the clock. However, it can take a couple of hours to get to the east entrance because there are important viewpoints along Desert View Drive and the speed limit is 25 mph..
